Day 6: Exploring El Yunque and Beach Relaxation

Morning:
Breakfast at your accommodation.

Visit El Yunque National Forest, immersing yourselves in the beauty of the rainforest, waterfalls, and hiking trails. This is the only rainforest in the U.S. National Forest system, and it allows you the opportunity to explore tropical landscapes and dip your toes in the crystalline waters of the natural pools.

Afternoon:
Savor lunch in the rainforest at your own expense before departing for the beach.

Spend leisure time at picturesque Luquillo beach, enjoying the sun and engaging in water activities.

Evening:
Enjoy a farewell dinner to celebrate your time in Puerto Rico.

Day 7: Departure

Morning:
Breakfast at your accommodation.

Depart for the airport, carrying cherished memories of volunteering, cultural experiences, and natural wonders.

Meaningful Volunteer Experience: This itinerary offers students the opportunity to make a positive impact through five days of volunteering with Techos Pa' Mi Gente, helping local communities and fostering a sense of social responsibility.

Rich Cultural Exploration: Students will immerse themselves in Puerto Rican culture by participating in a walking tour of the vibrant capital city, gaining a deeper understanding of the island's heritage.

Environmental Education: Visiting El Yunque Rainforest allows students to learn about the unique ecosystem of Puerto Rico, promoting environmental awareness and appreciation for nature.

Balanced Adventure: Combining volunteer work, cultural exploration, natural wonders, and leisure time on the beach, this itinerary provides a well-rounded experience for students.

• English and Spanish are widely spoken, but locals appreciate the use of basic Spanish phrases as you interact with them.
• Puerto Rico has a tropical climate, with warm temperatures year-round. The peak tourist season is December to April, but hurricane season is from June to November. Keep this in mind as you plan dates for your tour.
• The standard voltage in Puerto Rico is 120 volts AC. This voltage is supplied at a frequency of 60 Hz and is the same as what is available in the United States, so you won't need an adapter. Be advised, however, that Puerto Rico experiences frequent power outages. Bring a surge protector, if possible, to protect your devices.
• Puerto Rico uses the U.S. Dollar as its official currency. Be aware that fewer businesses accept debit and credit cards, but ATMs are available across the island. Inform your bank that you will be in Puerto Rico prior to travel.
• Volunteer work can vary from day to day and might include construction, cooking, gardening, or painting, among other tasks. Be flexible and pack closed-toe shoes and appropriate clothing for work.

• Travel time to and from various parts of the country may modify these itineraries.
• Passports are NOT required for U.S. citizens traveling to Puerto Rico.
