Teacher Profile - Manhattan Campus
In this teacher profile we meet Zoni Manhattan teacher, Patrick Hennessey. Patrick was born in Bayonne New Jersey, USA. Even from an early age, Patrick was interested in languages. It is not surprising that he is an avid traveler and enjoys learning about new cultures. Combining his love of language and travel, Patrick taught English in Argentina for a year in 2014. When he isn't at Zoni or travelling the world, you can find Patrick enjoying his other love, soccer! We asked Patrick to answer a few questions for us. This is what he had to say.
What inspired you to be a teacher?
I really believe that teaching found me. Teaching always felt natural to me as I've always enjoyed helping other people. When you are teaching you are never focused on just one thing because you have to be ready to respond or help any number of students at any time.
What is so special about teaching at Zoni?
The environment. At Zoni it is always bustling with students. We have a wonderful team at work. You can have a good relationship with everyone. Everyone is very close and that intimacy is one of the great things about teaching at Zoni, and of course seeing the students improve day by day is a given.
Thinking about your teaching experiences, what are the things that still stick in your mind?
Pronunciation exercises are always funny. Many students are shy at the beginning but then they grow into the exercise and really do improve their pronunciation.
What do you think makes a good teacher?
Being attentive to students' needs. All students are different and need different assistance and learning methods to completely understand and master the particular lesson. I work really hard to make my classes successful and enjoyable for everyone.
