General Questions

A long-term program is the best choice if your English proficiency is lower. We offer Academic Semester or Academic Year courses which cover the standard for admissions at the community college or state university if your proficiency was intermediate levels. If you do not have much time or want to study for short period of time, consider an Intensive English course. Take a Semi-Intensive English course if your primary purpose to travel is tourism and seizing and would like a light workload of study. For a more career-focused course, take one of our ESL for Business or English for Specific purpose courses. Students tend to like our different English language courses for particular reasons. Miami Beach is very popular with students in the young age and is our busiest center for Cambridge ESOL Exam Preparation Course ESL for Business, Intensive TOEFL and Semi-Intensive English. We also run an excellent attractive course in New York City – Manhattan. For students, over 16, who are more interested in an intensive or semi intensive courses as well an English specific purpose. So you can see that depending on what you require, we have a course center that will be 'right down your street'! See course in our locations in UK and Canada.
For all the general English courses, you can be any level of English proficiency. The only ones that require a specific proficiency are ESL for Business (intermediate), English for Specific Purpose (intermediate) and Exam preparation (upper intermediate).
If you need to be seen by a doctor, your support staff at the school will arrange for you to visit their practice. If you like, a group leader will also go with you. If you are a member of any insurance company that it wasn’t provide by Zoni, please contact your insurance immediately to find our where can you be seeing at your nearest location. However, if you do not have any valid health insurance you will need to pay for all the medical treatments and all the prescriptions. If you do not have any medical insurance, you should ensure you have a comprehensive medical insurance during your travel. It is recommended, that all of our English language students take out a full insurance before the journey.
The first thing to do is approach your teacher. They are very open to your needs and will listen to what you have to say. Sometimes, when you first arrive, because you are nervous and perhaps lack a little confidence in using the English language, you do not perform as well as you actually could. Therefore, you may just need to settle down and have time in the class. You may, of course, feel the lessons are too easy. The important thing is that if you and your teacher feel that the class is wrong for you, arrangements will be made to correct the situation. It is always best to discuss any issues with your academic advisor.
Yes, all students are given a Zoni Language Centers certificate upon successful completion of a course or an attendance certification. You will be expected, unless you are sick, to attend school for at least the minimum requirements each day, on time. Your teacher will also provide an student report, detailing the progress you have made.
You can join the classes on Mondays, so we recommend you arrive on the Saturday or Sunday before your start date.
No, these are entirely optional, and are offered as extras to give students the opportunity to participate in more things. You have to pay for the optional activities and excursions, if you take part, and they can be paid for at your course center once you have begun the course. Keep in mind that some of the courses offer field trips that it is part of the curriculum.

Each school has its own social program to make sure you have a good time during your stay. A full activities program is offered in each school.
The person meeting you at the airport will be carrying a sign 'Zoni Language Centers' and your name. They will also have all of your information, including your name, flight details and onward transportation. They will normally be standing at the barrier where you come out after collecting your luggage. They will be looking for you and are usually very good at spotting our students. If, for some reason, you do not meet up with them, go to the information desk and ask them to call the representative from Zoni language Centers. Stay near the information desk and they will come to you.
All students would like to live close to the school, but in reality this is impossible to arrange. You should be prepared to travel to school each day by train or bus. Your host family will help you and provide information regarding the local transportation route routes and how to get to school.
At Zoni, we do our best to place you in a good host home. Sometimes, for whatever reason, a student is not happy and we immediately take action. We would discuss the issue with the student, and if for instance they did not have enough food or couldn't work the shower, we would get it sorted with the family. If, however, there was a personality clash or they were allergic to an animal for example, we would arrange a new host family. Whatever the problem, big or small, we would endeavors to solve it.

On your first day of class, you will take an English assessment on your grammar, writing, listening and speaking skills. Your course level will be based on your assessment results. We offer exam preparation courses such as TOEFL, IELTS or Cambridge exams (FCE, CAE and CPE), which you can take at your school some of them. Please note that the exam fee is not included in the tuition price and needs to be paid separately.
Each school has a Director of Studies, an Academic Advisors and staff members. You will also have a teacher assigned to your course and class to answer questions throughout your studies.
For the biggest choice of accommodation options please book as early as possible but in general it also possible to enroll for a course at fairly short notice.
We provide free Internet access for our students. We are also Wireless enabled so you access the Internet from your laptop, tablet or mobile phone. You can also use our student's computer to check your emails, to use the Internet and to stay in touch with your friends and family home.
Wire Transfer Payment: Payments made by wire transfer will be subject to a $30.00 wire-transfer fee. Ask for the details. Credit Card Payment: Zoni accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Dinners Club and Discover credit cards for payments of tuition and fees. Please check with your bank to make sure that your credit card can be used in the United States and to determine your daily transaction limit. Other Methods of Payment: The school accepts traveler's checks, and cash. Students are cautioned against carrying large sums of cash.

The I-20 is the Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant (F-1) Status is the document that will enable you to apply for an F-1 visa.
Yes, Zoni Language Centers is authorized under federal law to enroll non-immigrant alien students to its programs; means international students are welcome in the program. F-1 visa holders must study full-time at all times
After you receive your I-20, you will need to pay your SEVIS fee — you can do this on-line. As soon as your SEVIS fee is paid, you will need to contact the embassy or consulate to make a visa appointment. Please feel free to contact us at contact@zoni.com for further questions.
If you are on an F-1 visa, U.S. immigration regulations require that you be a full-time student. Some visa types do permit the choice of part-time study or full-time study. (Please contact our office if you have questions.)
Conditional acceptance means that you are accepted into the undergraduate program, but you have not met the Universities’ English proficiency requirement. After you meet that requirement, you will be able to transfer to the university who has extended your condition admission.
USA – Yes, but you will need to request a new I20 and pay a fee as well in some cases if you never use your visa before probably you need to go back to the American consulate to report the change (first time travels with the F1 student visa). After you arrive you must contact the current school I-20 to find all the cancellation responsibilities. UK – If you are on a Short-term study visa this is possible see your school advisor to find out what are your responsibilities. If you are on a Tier 4 visa please contact us for further and accurate information. Canada – Yes. However, after arrival ensure you see the school advisor in case that requires a work permit.
