Full job description: Assistant Director Academics


Zoni's Academic Assistant Directors are instructional leaders providing guidance and mentorship to their teachers under the supervision of the Academic Director/Lead. They provide coaching, training, and mentoring for their faculty teaching Zoni programs to support instructional excellence at our schools. Academic Leads are responsible for directing and coordinating all academic processes regarding classroom activities, teachers’ attendance, training, performance appraisals, second language instruction and administrative duties of the academic department

Position Overview:
Student Retention:
Manage /sustain at least 80% + student retention
Follow up on teachers’ strengths and weakness in terms of instructional delivery.
Set up teaching strategies to remediate areas of improvement
Monitor teachers’ retention/completion rates of students

Class Management:
Manage initiation of new courses and maintain a calendar for new classes
Monitor teachers’ retention, individual classes, and overall school attendance

Academic Strategies:
Monitor all teaching activities in the online classrooms and ensure all classes are delivered following Zoni’s teaching philosophy and methodology
Ensure that all Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) are achieved through effective instructional delivery and students’ acquisition of the language
Develop and implements customer service and public relation activities that will result in the school's growth

Administrative Matters:
Arrange/ cover for teacher lateness/absences
Administer written and oral placement tests for all students
Cover for Academic Director when needed

Remote

  • Bachelor's degree; Master's preferred
    Degree in Education, Communication or any related field
    Master's in TESOL highly preferred
  • TEFL, ESOL TESOL certificate, teaching practicum CELTA/Trinity or equivalent
    At least 120-hour certification is required
  • At least 2 years of experience managing ESL or educational program with supervisory responsibilities, including hiring and evaluating staff
  • At least 2 years of online ESL teaching adults; experience with teaching kids is highly preferred

Time Zone: Eastern Standard Time
Monday through Thursday
7:30 AM - 1:00 PM
5:30 PM - 10:00 PM
Sunday: 8:30 AM - 1:00 PM
